Concept Map

The idea of using concept maps to help students learn is a great one from the start. This tool is easy to use with the use of free online websites that allow students and teachers to create great concept maps that are clearly organized and easy to read. The concept map I have presented is one used for class. It is a very simple start forward concept map about concept maps and how they can be an effective teaching tool. Teachers can use these concept maps in many different ways.

The first method of concept maps is probably the most commonly used form of concept maps. They are used to give students a visual organization of how ideas or concepts are related or connected. For example they idea of concept maps can be used around a single idea and branch from the single idea into multiple related ideas. Also a concept map can be used to link different big ideas and represent the ways in with the ideas are connected.

Another use of this program could even be making an assignment. Teachers could even ask students to create a concept map about a given set of material to help them understand the material better. Students will learn and retain more information this way making it a key part of meaningful learning. When students are able to connect these ideas and form these visual aids to help them learn they retain more information. Also students can further the use of concept maps by using the maps they have created to help them prepare for upcoming test and assignments.

Students can also use concept maps in another way. Many students find the use of concept maps to be helpful when writing essays as well. Students find that concept maps help them organize their ideas into a more usable fashion. The students can use the concept map they have created for an essay to form a game plan for writing the essay and how they would like to present their ideas.

In conclusion, there are many ways in that concept maps can be used. If it is used for organizing ideas, studying for a test, as an assignment, as a learning tool for students to better understand ideas. The use of concept maps is a fast easy way to present information. Students using these types of learning tools are actively involved in meaningful learning that will allow them to understand the information presented to them for better understanding. For teachers of today it is key to continue to use the technology that is provided to the best of their ability to provide students with the most meaningful learning possible.
