Google Doc, Wallwisher, and Wordle Word Cloud

Google Doc, Wallwisher, and Wordle are all very interesting tools to use in technology within a classroom. I was very impressed with the ease of use of these particular applications. I personally had never used any of these applications. However, after this introduction to the tools I feel that I will be using these applications in many ways in my future classroom.

The first of the three applications was Google Doc. I really enjoyed using the doc application during class to complete assignments. I feel that this is a wonderful tool to use for many reasons. I feel that his tool has great ease of use and can be viewed anywhere with internet access. I would use this application for homework assignments to allow students to turn the work in at night and be graded by the morning. When students turned in work on this application the teacher can view the work before students ever return to class. With this tool students could be provided instant feedback and be able to ask questions while working on the assignment for instant feedback. I also could see this being a great tool for collaborative work between students when being involved in meaningful learning. Students could use this tool to for a means of communication outside of school to compare ideas and gain a better understanding of the material. Also this could be a great way for students to interact as an entire class to solve problems and provide feedback on their collaborative work.

The second application was wallwisher. I had also never used this application before. I can also see many uses for this application as well. I feel that this application could be a great tool for teachers to use to share brief information with students or other teachers to get involved in collaborative work. Also if teachers wanted to combine a task among more then one class this could be wonderful to allow both teachers to post comments for students to see while maintaining the communication between students.

The final application studied was the wordle applications. This is a little different type of application then the first two. I found this to be a very interesting application however; I am not sure how I would use it in a science classroom. I feel that this application is better suited for students in reading and writing classes. This could be a great way to show students how to use diversity within their writing and vocabulary. Also it could provide a means of letting students know if they have any questions about the vocabulary used in an upcoming reading assignment.

In the end, it is easy to see how these types of applications connect with students. These are the types of applications that students must use in order to gain better understanding of topics and get involved in a meaningful learning process. I feel that with continued use in the field of teaching technology will further push students to higher levels of learning while providing each and every student with a more advanced education.
